DEVCO is the primary agency in North Platte and Lincoln County charged with the retention, expansion, and attraction of business and industry in the region. First incorporated as the Industrial Corporation of North Platte in 1957, DEVCO has been steadfastly committed to helping the North Platte and Lincoln County economy grow and prosper.
Today, DEVCO is a 501 (C) 6 not-for-profit corporation comprised of over 150 member organizations from both the public and private sectors throughout the city, county, and region. Members extend across a wide range of fields, such as transportation logistics, warehousing, medical services, value-added agriculture, food processing, manufacturing education and financial institutions.
DEVCO has successfully:
- facilitated the creation of 2,974 net jobs in North Platte and Lincoln County between 2000 and 2006.
- helped to raise the per capita income in Lincoln County from $23,823 in 2000 to $27,744 in 2005 - an increase of over 16%. (Source: 2006 Woods & Poole Economics, Inc.)
- lobbied for overwhelming approval in 2001 of a municipal sales tax to provide financial assistance to relocating and expanding businesses.
DEVCO is governed by a 17-member Board of Directors made up of economic development supporters and local community leaders. The Board of Directors annually establishes a plan of work that outlines both long and short-term organizational goals. Two professional staff members oversee the daily operation and activities of the organization.
