LABOR
2005 Lincoln County Wage & Benefits Study The cost of human capital is a primary component of any successful business venture. Unfortunately, understanding and predicting the cost of human capital in a continually changing labor market is difficult. To assist existing and potential Lincoln County businesses in better understanding the area labor market, the Development Corporation of North Platte (DEVCO) conducts a biennial Wage and Benefits Study to ascertain specific labor market information about wages and benefits in the region.
DEVCO conducted the research for this document from August-September, 2004. Wage and Benefits Survey Forms were sent to approximately 350 diversified businesses of all employment levels in Lincoln County. These potential survey participants included for-profit, not-for-profit and governmental entities. 73 qualified employers (respondents) returned completed Survey Forms, a response rate of 21%. The respondents represent a balanced mix of small, medium, and large companies: 37 small (0-19 Employees), 27 medium (20-99 employees), and 9 large (100+ employees). Cumulatively, these survey respondents employ more than 4,850 people in Lincoln County.
The Study is divided into two specific sections. The "Wages" section provides the minimum, average and maximum salary levels for selected occupations. To minimize confusion between various occupations, a definitions page was included with the original Wage and Benefits Survey Form. A listing of selected occupation definitions is included on page 4 of this document. Wage information is provided from pages 5 to 12.
The "Benefits" section of the Study includes a wealth of information on topics ranging from vacation and sick leave to health insurance and uniform allowances. Undoubtedly, few, if any, businesses offer the same type of benefits package. Every effort was made to consolidate and summarize respondent information in a clear and accurate fashion. However, due to incomplete and unclear responses, some responses were not incorporated into the final document.
